Biodiversity Credits
Qarlbo Biodiversity offers projects that restore ecosystems within production landscapes, connecting businesses’ production value chains with long-term ecological resilience through a process that is easily scalable and highly adaptable. We invest in and actively enhance biodiversity in forest landscapes through three primary tactics, with the ambitious goal of strengthening our planet’s lifeline for current and future generations.
These projects generate biodiversity credits to indicate the ecosystem improvements being made. Our pioneering projects have enabled one of the first commercial sales of biodiversity credits in Europe. Our credit methodology is applicable to any production forest in the world, and is in the process of being verified by The Global Biocredit Standard.

Our Technology
Transparent monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) of climate and biodiversity outcomes is crucial for validation of project efforts and incentivization of broader adoption. Therefore, we have partnered with Treemetrics, a specialized forest information system provider, to tailor and adapt the latest capabilities (laser, satellite, eDNA and other technologies) for monitoring and reporting on the status of biodiversity efforts in our forests.

Biocredit Potential
Currently, the gap between biodiversity finance flows and funding needed to hit 2030 goals is nearly USD 1 trillion. In this context, biodiversity credits can be seen as a highly promising tool for delivering, verifying, and scaling positive contributions to biodiversity.

Corporate Biodiversity Strategies
A biodiversity credit represents a permanent, measurable and independently verified positive biodiversity outcome achieved on one hectare of forest land over the course of a year. This outcome is additional to what would have occurred without the implementation of the project. For Qarlbo Biodiversity, our biodiversity credits represent the measurable uplift in biodiversity achieved on our project sites beyond what is considered business as usual. Each credit is a verified unit that reflects tangible ecological improvements, backed by rigorous monitoring, reporting, and verification protocols.

Sustainable Supply Chain Integration
For businesses that rely on paper or wood products, biodiversity credits from forest landscapes can be a powerful tool for validating, quantifying and monetizing science- based claims relating to their biodiversity footprint.
